This was always the plan. Dear Mahjong was built to put artists’ beloved work on mahjong tiles — and Nashville painter Kayce Hughes is the first.
What you will find in the Kayce Hughes line are miniature expressions of Kayce's life-sized art through her various collections representing the suits and novelty tiles. Her "maps" become our craks, her "brainstorm" becomes our jokers, her "tribe" becomes our dragons, her lily of the valley "botanicals" become our bams and more. We engraved and custom painted her hand-drawn artwork onto soft blue tiles. Nothing else on the table looks like it.
Known for her modern, painterly abstract compositions and meticulously drawn motifs, Kayce works across watercolor, ink, acrylic, and oil, drawing much of her inspiration from the beauty of nature, colors and textiles, botanicals, traditional chinoiserie, calligraphy, and the everyday details around her. This set encompasses her love for tradition combined with her modern flair.
160 engraved acrylic tiles including 2 additional jokers, 6 blank tiles, a pair of dice, and a matching leather tile bag.
Ships in November.
